Whey Protein Powder Shake Recipe and My Morning Routine
I received the following products in exchange for an honest review. The opinions expressed are 100 percent my own. This post contains affiliate links.
Per my doctor's recommendation, I drink protein powder shakes for breakfast. I like them because it feels as if I'm drinking a milk shake every morning. In the following video, I review the Zahler Reach Whey Protein Powder, in the Cookies & Cream flavor.
In my shake, I add 1 to 2 tablespoons of ground flax seed. For the liquid, I use about 1/2 cup whole milk and 1/2 cup cream. The result is a creamy, thick shake.
Sometimes, I also like to add 1 tablespoon of spirulina to my shake. When I don't add spirulina, I take a chlorella supplement, like Ultra Chlorella Extract from Vibrant Life Nutrition. I like that the supplements don't smell or taste bad, like the powder form of algae.
To give myself a boost in the morning, I take a magnesium supplement, like the magnesium citrate from Bri Nutrition. Magnesium is essential for bone health, as well as the health of your muscles, nerves and endocrine system. I use different forms of magnesium throughout the day for sore muscles and to help relieve headaches.
Another essential supplement that I take is omega-3. In general, I take several large capsules per day. This is annoying, which is why I'm a fan of Triple Power Omega 3 Fish Oil from AlgaeCal. This supplement has no fishy flavor and has some turmeric in it to enhance its anti-inflammatory properties. The syrup is mango flavored, but I thought it tasted more like peach. One of my favorite things about this supplement is that it has high levels of EPA.
What do you do to give yourself a boost in the morning?
