- Go to the nature observatory with a friend and describe to them any birds you may see, but don't tell them what kind it is. Your friend has to draw the bird based on your description. Take a food and have a picnic, too.
- See what promotions your favorite theater is offering. For example, my favorite theater is having a food drive for the food bank. If you take 3 cans of food on a specific day, you get to see a movie for free and they throw in a free popcorn!
- Some libraries offer free passes to local attractions. Ones in my area offer free one-day passes to the zoo, Japanese and Chinese gardens, museums, etc.
- Check out websites or blogs made by people who live in your area. They may have information on free/inexpensive events going on in your area.
- Cut up your old magazines and make funny collages. These can be made into cards/postcards, art for your home, or something for your art journal.
- Make a new recipe or experiment in your kitchen with food you already have. (Personal note: I did this today. I tried to make homemade pasta, but it came out more like spatzel.)
