The Krochet Kids are a group of college guys learned to crochet and have passed on these skills to 10 women in Uganda. The women crochet hats to be sold, therefore, creating immediate income for their families and strength for their community.
Here are a couple of videos from the Krochet Kids:

I'm an INFJ

I did a personality test today with all of the free time (a.k.a. lack of wanting to vacuum the house). It turns out I'm an INFJ: Introverted, iNtuitive, Feeling, Judging. This is the Jung-Meyers-Brigg typology test. Here is what the site says:
"According to the Jung - Myers-Briggs typology all people can be classified using four criteria...Upon completing Jung Typology Test you will obtain your type formula, strengths of the preferences and type description. It may help you to identify your life style in general and with respect to specific fields of activity. You will also obtain a list of the most suitable career choices based on your personality, along with some educational institutions where you can receive a relevant degree or training."
After learning more about INFJ's, I found they are good social workers, counselors, and designers. Here is part of a description I found about this personality type:
"INFJs are distinguished by both their complexity of character and the unusual range and depth of their talents. Strongly humanitarian in outlook, INFJs tend to be idealists, and because of their J preference for closure and completion, they are generally "doers" as well as dreamers. This rare combination of vision and practicality often results in INFJs taking a disproportionate amount of responsibility in the various causes to which so many of them seem to be drawn.
...Usually self-expression comes more easily to INFJs on paper, as they tend to have strong writing skills. Since in addition they often possess a strong personal charisma, INFJs are generally well-suited to the "inspirational" professions such as teaching (especially in higher education) and religious leadership. Psychology and counseling are other obvious choices, but overall, INFJs can be exceptionally difficult to pigeonhole by their career paths. Perhaps the best example of this occurs in the technical fields. Many INFJs perceive themselves at a disadvantage when dealing with the mystique and formality of "hard logic", and in academic terms this may cause a tendency to gravitate towards the liberal arts rather than the sciences. However, the significant minority of INFJs who do pursue studies and careers in the latter areas tend to be as successful as their T counterparts, as it is *iNtuition* -- the dominant function for the INFJ type -- which governs the ability to understand abstract theory and implement it creatively. "Some well-known people who are also INFJ's include Goethe, Mother Teresa, Shirley Temple Black, Martin Luther King, Jr., Nelson Mandela, Jerry Seinfeld, and Yoda.
What is your personality type?

Freelancing is Fun
I've been lame about posting. I know.
What happened? Someone liked my blogging style and decided to hire my freelance writing services. Pretty sweet, huh? It's cool to get paid to do what you like.
The good news is that the client has signed me on long-term!
So now I need to not be a flake and not post on this blog.
In other news, I got myself a super-cool new scooter. Pictures will be posted soon, so stay tuned.
Oh...if you are interested in my freelance work (i.e. you want to hire me) email me for more info.: FreelanceFlora@gmail.com

Scooters, Voting, and Sock Monkey...
...a few of my favorite things.
Paul Frank created this super-cool poster with the classic sock monkey riding a scooter and voting.

Here is a funny scooter tattoo that features super heros: Batman with Robin in the sidecar, Spiderman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and the orange guy. I have to say I like Batman's scooter because of the sidecar, but also Wonder Woman's because it is invisible.
Here is a super, dragster scooter. It looks really, really fast.

GFU Update
Four students at George Fox University confessed to hanging the cardboard cutout of Obama from a in the last couple of days. Their punishment is that they will not be able to go to Fox for along time and will have to do community service (probable at the university). You can read the story here.
In the "University Response to Campus Incident", the university states it is trying to be more diverse and has created a '..."Blueprint for Diversity,” which includes not only enrolling a racially and ethnically diverse student body, but also cultivating staff and faculty who are persons of color." So now the staff will be anglo-american and of color. No Asians? No Latinos? etc. I know I am reading into this too much, but who wrote this stuff? Who says "of color" anymore?
At least one thing has not changed since I have gone to Fox: multicultural week. Here is the line-up of events:
10/27 – Chapel: Multicultural Worship
10/28 – Cultural Fair, 3 p.m. – EHS Atrium
10/29 – Chapel: University Players presentation & Pete Menjares
10/30 – Multicultural Luncheon, 5:30 – 7 p.m., Cap & Gown A,B, & C
After all that has happened, you think there would be more than just a week dedicated to our differences. Why can't there be events throughout the year? This is not a new concept; hundreds of universities do this all the time.
Oy vey.
