My first day as a free agent

I did it: I took the plunge and am now my own boss as I take my writing career another step further. Today is Day 1 of new adventure/ordeal/whatever-you-want-to-call-it. I did the freelance-thing only part-time before, so this full-time gig I created has already provided some early lessons.

So here is the beginning of my list of things I'm learning about being self-employed:
  1. My boss is really cool.
  2. I get 2 20-minute nap breaks every day.
  3. I'm happy my office chair is comfortable.
  4. The benefits suck.
  5. Time is money: I can't goof off and still get paid.
  6. I need to find a way to make some better residual cash.
  7. The dress code is really relaxed.
  8. I can bring my pets and family to work.
  9. I can wear whatever perfume I can stand.
  10. The cat makes a horrible secretary (see picture), but the hubby is pretty good as the HR manager.
