Get Organized this New Year & Giveaway

I purchased the Family Facts organizer last year in the form of a day planner for my husband and me to use, and we both really liked it. Therefore, I jumped at the chance to try out the 16-month organizer, which is a wall calendar. This is not your ordinary wall calendar that maybe has a pocket, though. The Family Facts organizer wall calendar is a super calendar that, in my opinion, beats out all the others when it comes to organization and usability.

I am the type of person who thrives on making lists and using calendars and day planners for all aspects of my life. While I do have an electronic calendar on my smart-phone, I do not trust technology to keep the information I need at my fingertips. Technology runs out of batteries, get smashed or can fall in the toilet. While the Family Facts wall calendar does not have cute pictures of kittens or inspirational quotes, which I do not care about, it is color-coded for each member of the family, has extra-large grids to write on, a large storage pocket, tons of stickers and contact sheets for phone numbers. The best parts about the calendar, which I have never seen before, are the two dry erase sheets on either side of the calendar.

There are only three concerns when it comes to the Family Facts wall calendar. First, the corners of the calendar were bent when it arrived in the mail, particularly the side with the pocket. I think this is due to the packaging it came in, though, which was a thin, bubble-like envelope that did not provide any support. I think including a couple additional pieces of cardboard to the front and back of the calendar in the packaging could have prevented the bent edges, which were pretty significant. My second concern is the calendar’s weight. This is not so much a concern, as it is a heads-up. A mere thumbtack will not support the calendar’s weight. The last concern I have is with the dry-erase sheets on the sides of the calendar because they do not stay flat on the wall (they fold in towards the calendar), but this may happen with time.

Overall, I think this is a great calendar, especially if you like being über organized.

UPDATE 12/18/2010
After having the calendar for only a few weeks, the adhesive (double-sided tape?) that held the dry-erase sheets and the pocket at the bottom failed. I got some clear packaging tape and stuck them back onto their respective spots. I did not have anything hanging from the dry-erase sheets and the only things I had in the pocket were the sheet of stickers and the dry-erase pen. If you purchase this calendar, I suggest you reinforce these areas with some tape.
