Decorate a Walking Cast and Crutches

I received the following products in exchange for an honest review on my blog. The opinions expressed are 100 percent my own. This post contains affiliate links. (Reference ID: pme354fd90b2d5c777bfec87a352a18976)

I broke my foot at the end of January. In the middle of March, six weeks later, I learned that it was still broken. When I saw the latest x-ray, it looked the same as the first x-ray. My dream of frolicking through spring flowers is on hold. There is a tulip farm near my home and I really want to visit it without needing to use crutches.

Decorate Your Walking Cast

Get five sheets of tattoos
Rather than feel sorry for myself, I am doing what I can to make the best of the situation. Dressing up my walking cast helps. By Kiki sent me a pack of its Temporary Metallic Flash Tattoos. In a recent post, I showed how I used temporary tattoos to decorate the boot. The process is simple:
  1. Cut out the tattoo that you like.
  2. Soak a cotton ball with water.
  3. Hold the tattoo against the area of the walking cast that you chose. (Put it on the hard plastic, not the soft liner or Velcro bands.) You can use masking tape to hold the tattoo in place, if you like.
  4. Press the wet cotton ball against the temporary tattoo to saturate it and transfer the image. This takes about 10 to 15 seconds.
  5. Slowly remove the paper.
  6. Allow the tattoo to air dry.
I like this set of tattoos better because you get more sheets of tattoos than the previous temporary tattoo company that I blogged about in the other post. The tattoos also cost less.

I liked the peacock feathers for my boot:

Crutch Décor

I kind of like this cover
If you have to use a cane or crutch to get around, you might as well make it more fun. I’ve been using a forearm crutch to get around my house when the pain is bad. To dress it up, Cane Expressions sent me one of its cane covers. The cover is like a stocking for your cane or crutch. For the review, I didn’t have a say in the color or pattern sent to me. I received a black and white polka dot cover that was kind of cute. Not really my style, but cute.

The cane covered almost the entire shaft of the forearm crutch and it was simple to use. I thought that the cover would sag down, but it never did.

If your current cane or crutch has a solid color on it, you could also decorate it with temporary tattoos.

Decorate Your Waking Cast

I received some of the products mentioned in exchange for an honest review on my blog. All the opinions expressed are 100 percent my own.

I broke my foot and sprained my ankle a few weeks ago. To help keep my foot immobilized while it heals, the doctor gave me a walking cast to wear for at least six weeks. While some people hate the thought of wearing "the boot," I like it. It's a lot more comfortable than the splint that the ER gave me and it provides better stability.

Since I have to look at it boot for several weeks, I wanted to decorate my walking cast. I first tried some rub-on transfer things from the craft store. I ended up taking them off because I got tired of them and they started to look worn. Then I experimented with the temporary tattoos that Voodoo Tattoo sent me to try. I received the "Petra" set, but I think the "Aphrodite" set has cuter tattoos for casts.

At first, I wasn't sure if the temporary tattoos would stick to the plastic, so I sent a message to the company. After not hearing back from them for more than a week, I went for it. This is the result:

A close-up of the embellishments
After decorating the front of the walking cast, I couldn't neglect the back. With the chalkboard label that KANAS sent me, I wrote, "Out of order," using a white Sharpie oil paint pen. The sticker has been on my boot for a couple of a weeks. There is minimal peeling in one of the top corners.

The bandaged foot you see in the background is mine. I use the splint that the ER gave me when I sleep because it's a lot more comfortable, lighter and softer than the walking cast.
