The scooter I needed a month and a half ago.

Even More Snow!

It keeps snowing out here! Everything has been canceled or is closed. Church was even canceled today... no arguments with that decision.

Now a weather report from Superman:

Here are some pictures that were taken yesterday evening and today.

Kyle's truck

We got about 10 inches of snow when all was said and done.

We helped our neighbors across the way...

...by putting snow 1/3 of the way up their door

Today it was 51-degrees INSIDE my house where we did not have a heater on overnight.

We got some freezing rain and sleet overnight.
All the snow that fell yesterday had a sheet of ice on top of it by midnight.

My neighbors' cars.

Me looking cool.

Cold weather makes my hair stick up.

The doppler shows rain over the coast, which will come to us as either freezing rain or snow. When we got some precipitation this afternoon, it can in the form of huge snow flakes.

This is the 10-day forecast. Looks cold, but warmer than now.

All the flights out of PDX have been canceled. Those who were supposed to fly out today have been told to plan to fly out on the 25th!

Scooter Not For Sale

The is a person in town who really wants to buy my Geely. I keep telling him it's not for sale because I like it too much.

Then he asked me how much I would want for it. I said $15,000. Why? Then I can get a really cool scooter with all the bells and whistles. The guy didn't think this was a good deal...don't know why.

I guess he really doesn't get it's not for sale.

Priorities

I found this video while dorking around online. As a Christian, I found it to be very insightful and impacting.

If you are not a Christian, I think you may still be able to relate to the skit because it portrays how one might view the priorities in one's life and who is really there for us when it counts.

Check it out. Let me know what you think.

On a side note, I've gotten back on my scooter and am happy to zoom around town again. The weather is hot so I've been able to sport my goggles.

Seriously?

It is HOT! Yesterday it was 102-degrees F. Today is not as hot, only 87-degrees, but it is still warm nonetheless.

Scooter riding in the heat feel like a hot blow drier is shooting hot air on you.

Riding my scooter at night when it is warm is way better than riding in the rain. The warm weather has brought out all the bugs--day and night. At night though, the bugs in my headlamp look like fireflies, which is pretty cool.

I've debuted a new blog: Irregardless. Check it out.

Scooter Friendly

I am happy to report my little town is scooter friendly.

No one in a car is ever aggressive towards me. A lot of people who are outside walking around wave to me as I pass by. Guys on big motorcycles even wave and I throw up a peace sign to them. People at the store stop by and ask me questions about the scooter and admire it.

This scooter seems to be a popularity-maker. It is kind of weird.

I mounted my little basket to the back of the Geely today so now I am set to carry some larger items. Now I just need to make a scooter pet to hang out in the basket (any suggestions?).

The only downside to the scooter is that when I am at a stop light and I am the only one in the lane, the sensors in the street cannot tell I am there. Therefore, I have to wait until a car pulls up behind me so the light can finally turn green. Today I felt like kicking out the kick stand and running to the cross walk to push the pedestrian button because I had been skipped 3 times by the traffic light.

My Geely and Me

First off, I need a little trunk of sorts for my Geely. I bought this crate for $4. I can zip-tie it perfectly on to the back.

However, it does rain a lot where I live, so I need to weather-proof the cubby. I bought a shower curtain at the same place I bought the crate. The curtain cost $8.

I have rivets and tools to fix them on to whatever material I want, so I put them onto the shower curtain.

The nylon string was buy one get one free, so it was about $2 for a whole roll of it. I used the string to fix the "panels" on to the crate. Ingenious! I still need to make a lid this. I have also made a liner for the inside of the box.

This weekend I zoomed around my neighborhood. The days were nice and sunny, but I had to practice at night, too.

Here I am after my night ride. It was raining so I wore my rain gear that is made for fishermen (I think). I also have on my rain boots. I, of course, wore my Power Ranger helmet with the visor down and my spiffy riding gloves.

I kind of look like a police officer in this picture. I don't know why I think this.

I have that weird thing in my eyes like animals have at night when you see their eyes glow in your headlights. Cool huh? That's what gives me my special powers.

These are my posh riding gloves, which match my helmet.

Here is what Geely looks like in the driver's seat.

My New Toy!

Yup...happy birthday to me! I saved up and got me this little thing to putt around town. It is a Geely Fashion 50 and gets about 90 miles per gallon! The fastest it will go is about 30 mph, but that is all I need.

I got a really cool white helmet that makes me look like the white Power Ranger, gloves, reflective gear, insurance, and a lock. Now all I need is to get it home. A friend of ours was nice enough let us keep the scooter in his garage (which was close to the bike shop we bought the scooter from) and we're going to rent a trailer hitch thing really soon to bring it home with the truck. I also have reflective stickers I am going to put on different things. Heck, I'll wear a koala on my head if it makes more visible to others.

Now all I need to do is learn how to ride it.
